BCAHA will be offering several fundraising opportunities this season to help families defray the costs associated with hockey. The fundraisers help to promote team work off the ice, to get players involved in contributing toward their ice fees, to make hockey affordable to all families and to advertise our association. The following fundraisers are planned and questions can be directed to the contact person listed.

LOTTERY TICKETS – MANDATORY FUNDRAISER - August 2009

This is the only mandatory fundraiser we have for the season. Each player is required to sell 10 lottery tickets. Families with multiple players are required to sell 15 tickets total. The lottery tickets are $10.00 each and the winning number is based on the PA Lottery. The prize will be announced at a future date but will most likely include Penguin tickets, Steelers tickets and a certain dollar amount. The proceeds from this fundraiser stay in the association to help with the day to day running of our organization and to help keep ice fees as low as possible. Tickets will be made available for those who would like to sell more than the mandatory amount of tickets. The full profit from these extra tickets will be applied to the player’s ice fees. Doug Schaefer is the contact for this fundraiser and can be reached at dschaefer@beavercountybadgers.com

TAG DAYJuly 5, 2009

This is a fundraiser we have been doing for the past couple of years and it has been very successful for those who participate. The mites, squirts and pee-wees will be collecting donations and selling candy bars at the Monaca Wal-Mart. These young players do especially well with this fundraiser. They are able to get involved and have a good time while collecting donations and advertising our association. Profits for those who participate in the tag day are divided between the players based on how many hours are worked per player.  Amie Buzza is the contact for the tag day fundraiser. She can be reached at amiebuzza@yahoo.com. All players are asked to wear Badger clothing or colors to the tag day.

CANDY BAR SALES – July 2009

We are holding a candy bar sale again this year. Anderson’s candy bars will be made available to families interested in selling them. Bags of 30 bars each can be reserved by contacting Missy Shultz at missyshultz@hotmail.com. Each candy bar is sold for $1.00 and .45 per candy bar sold is applied to the player’s accounts. Money is due at the picnic. Please contact Missy to reserve your candy bars and to find out where and when to pick them up.

WENDY’S CAR WASHJuly 18, 2009

The Bantams and Midgets may participate in a car wash held at the Chippewa Wendy’s. Leigh and Jim Sheets are the contacts for this fundraiser and can be reached at sheets47@comcast.net. Profits from the car wash will be divided among those who participate. To reserve your spot, please contact the Sheets Family!

HOAGIES AND PEPPERONI ROLLS – October 2009

Hoagies from Weaver’s Market and Pepperoni Rolls from Bowsers will be available for sale. Due to the input from many who participated last year in our pepperoni roll fundraiser we have changed suppliers. Both the hoagies and the rolls are made fresh the day of pick up and are not frozen nor are they purchased from another company. Our committee tasted these products and enjoyed them very much! The contact for this fundraiser is Wendy Bishop. Wendy can be reached at wendybishop@hotmail.com

THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS DESSERTS – November 2009

Cherry Pies, Apple Dumplings and Pumpkin and Nut Rolls will be available for sale. The apple dumplings were tasted and loved by the committee. These desserts come from J & J Catering. Michelle Vicsnesky is the contact for this fundraiser and can be reached at michelle23@access995.com

COUPON BOOKS – December 2009

These coupon books are very nice and include coupons for Panera Bread, McDonalds, Mario’s Pizzeria, Dunkin' Doughnuts, Fun for All and many, many more. Each book will be sold for $20.00 with a profit of $8 - $10 depending on how many the organizations sells. Kristin Malagise is the contact for this fundraiser and may be reached at malagise6@comcast.net

NIGHT AT THE RACES/CASINO NIGHT

Over the past several years there has been interest in a major fundraising event for the organization. The idea has been brought to the board’s attention; however, no one has offered to run this type of fundraiser, though many are interested in helping. We need a dedicated committee to take on a task such as this and are looking for those who might be interested in running a major fundraiser or who might be interested in serving on a committee in charge of running this fundraiser. If you are interested, please contact Christy Dioguardi at cmdio@comcast.net to be put on a list of volunteers. From this list we hope to find someone willing to chair the committee.

PUCK STOP - August 2009 – April 2010

There are no available positions in the Puck Stop at this time; however, there is a waiting list. Puck Stop employees are responsible to work approximately five times per month (depending on the number of participants). You schedule yourself for each month’s shifts on a rotational basis. The shifts are evenings and weekends. The board has allotted $900.00 to be applied directly towards your player’s account. Please contact Pat and Tracey Mannarino at pmannarino@aol.com if you are interested in placing your name on the waiting list.

All fundraisers offered are voluntary except for the lottery tickets. You do not have to participate. We offer many options so families can pick and choose what suits their individual needs. The fundraisers change from year to year based on participation and success. The committee has attempted to pick fundraisers with items families can use and need due to the economic situation. Fundraising credits are applied first to ice fees then to jerseys, tournament fees and clothing sale items. The credits are not used for registration fees, hotels or traveling money. They are applied first to ice fees to insure all fees are paid by December 18, 2009. Any question, comments or suggestions can be directed to Christy Dioguardi, Treasurer of the Board, at cmdio@comcast.net.
